Concrete or Polyurethane
Soil S
tabilization

Underpinning is the strengthening of existing foundation by adding to it. This method is most commonly used for minor foundation repairs in non-load bearing scenarios. For example, when leveling driveways or decks. There are various methods for this, the most famous of which are mass concrete underpinning and jet pressure underpinning. Mass concrete underpinning is where a big block of concrete is installed under existing foundations. The less invasive option and usually more effective is jet pressure underpinning is where liquid concrete, polyurethane resin or other material is pressure pumped into the ground to stabilize the existing soil underneath the structure.

Push or Helical Pile
Underpinning

Piles have seen some technological advancements over recent years but the principle remains the same. Long Piles (thick poles) are driven deep into the ground until it hits solid load-bearing soil. Piles are the preferred choice in the foundation repair of buildings because it can be used to bring the section of building back to level and is a permanent solution to unstable soil. Push piles are force pushed into the soil next to the existing foundations whereas helical piles are screwed into the ground. Both are effective and are used in different scenarios and require different equipment. Once secure, the existing foundations are connected to the piles, hydraulically lifted back to the correct height and permanently secured.

Full Foundation Replacement

Full foundation replacement is needed when the whole existing foundation is shifting or sinking. This is not a recommendation we take lightly. Most buildings only require  underpinning but where the foundations of a building are significantly damaged and no longer solid, a full replacement may be needed to be able to support the weight of the building structure it is holding. If foundations are unstable, the whole building is unsafe.
For a full foundation replacement we work with surveyors and structural engineers and surveyors to make sure that your building is as protected as possible through the process.  Our team of experts will support you and communicate with you every step of the way to make sure you get the best outcome.

Signs of Foundation Issues

Many people's first recognition of foundation issues is noticing sudden cracks in bricks or walls. Small cracks are usually nothing to worry - ground does settle naturally. But when the cracks grow or deepen, or when doors and window warp and don't close anymore or when it parts of foundations seem to be crumbling away then there may be something serious wrong with the foundations of a house. Inspection by a qualified professional should not be delayed. We offer free initial inspections and quotes to help you assess these issues as soon as you have a concern.

Causes of Foundation Issues

There are a multitude of reasons that would cause instability to existing building foundations. Sometimes the cause is natural - ground does move without warning, from earthquakes, flooding or droughts. Any of these natural events can cause changes deep in the ground which can cause clay expansion and movement higher up - underneath where a building sits.  We also see issues in foundations from human error. This can range from inadequately compacted soil at time of building to extensive, unknown water issues under the house to trees planted too close to a building where the tree roots start to grow in to the foundations, de-stablising the building.
No matter the reason for your foundation issue - we can help.

Don't dare wait - without repairs foundation issues will only get worse.
